GigNeighbour Prohibited Tasks & Services Policy

GigNeighbour is a local marketplace that connects task posters with independent service providers for everyday tasks and services. To promote a lawful, respectful, and safer marketplace, certain tasks, services, products, and activities are not permitted on GigNeighbour.
All users are responsible for ensuring that tasks they post, offer, accept, or perform comply with applicable laws, regulations, licensing requirements, and GigNeighbour policies.
1. Illegal Activities
Users must not post, request, offer, arrange, or perform any task that involves illegal activity.
This includes tasks involving theft, fraud, vandalism, trespassing, forgery, trafficking, unlawful surveillance, possession or distribution of illegal goods, or assisting another person in violating the law.
GigNeighbour may remove any task or service that it reasonably believes involves unlawful activity.
2. Weapons and Dangerous Items
Tasks involving the unlawful manufacture, modification, sale, transportation, or distribution of firearms, ammunition, explosives, prohibited weapons, or other dangerous items are not permitted.
Users must not request services intended to create weapons or modify items for the purpose of causing harm.
3. Illegal Drugs and Controlled Substances
Users must not use GigNeighbour to request, purchase, sell, manufacture, distribute, deliver, or transport illegal drugs or unlawfully obtained controlled substances.
Tasks involving prescription medications must comply with applicable laws and must not involve unauthorized sale, distribution, or transfer.
4. Alcohol, Cannabis and Age-Restricted Products
Users must not request another person to purchase, supply, or deliver alcohol, cannabis, tobacco, nicotine products, or other age-restricted products unless GigNeighbour expressly permits that category of service and the activity complies with all applicable legal requirements.
GigNeighbour may prohibit these services entirely or restrict them as the platform develops.
5. Sexual Services and Explicit Content
GigNeighbour must not be used to advertise, request, arrange, or provide prostitution, escort services involving sexual activity, sexual services, sexually explicit performances, pornography, or other services primarily intended for sexual activity.
Legitimate beauty, personal-care, photography, wellness, or similar services are permitted provided they comply with GigNeighbour policies and applicable laws.
6. Violence, Threats and Harm
Tasks involving violence, threats, intimidation, harassment, stalking, revenge, coercion, or intentional harm to another person or animal are prohibited.
Users must not hire another person through GigNeighbour to confront, intimidate, follow, monitor, harass, or harm someone.
7. Fraud, Deception and Financial Schemes
Tasks intended to deceive or financially exploit another person are prohibited.
This includes scams, fraudulent transactions, fake reviews, identity theft, cheque schemes, money laundering, unauthorized financial transactions, deceptive account creation, and requests to transfer or receive money for suspicious or unrelated purposes.
Users must not request another person to provide banking passwords, PINs, credit-card security codes, or other private account credentials.
8. Academic and Professional Misconduct
Tutoring, coaching, editing, proofreading, and legitimate educational assistance may be offered through GigNeighbour.
However, users must not request another person to impersonate them, take an examination on their behalf, falsify academic records, or complete work where doing so would constitute academic fraud or other prohibited misconduct.
Users must also not request falsification of professional records, certifications, licences, employment documents, or government documents.
9. Regulated and Licensed Work
Tasks requiring a licence, certification, permit, registration, specialized training, or other legal authorization may only be performed by individuals legally qualified to perform that work.
This may include certain electrical, plumbing, gas fitting, construction, automotive, healthcare, childcare, transportation, or other regulated services.
GigNeighbour may remove or restrict a task when appropriate qualifications cannot reasonably be demonstrated.
Service providers are responsible for understanding and complying with the requirements that apply to their services.
10. Medical and Healthcare Services
GigNeighbour is not a healthcare or emergency medical services platform.
Users must not use GigNeighbour to obtain medical diagnosis, emergency medical treatment, prescription services, nursing services, or other regulated healthcare services from individuals who are not legally authorized to provide them.
General non-medical assistance may be permitted where it does not require professional healthcare qualifications or involve activities prohibited by law.
11. Dangerous or Unreasonably Hazardous Tasks
Users must not post or accept tasks that create an unreasonable risk of serious injury or harm.
Tasks involving hazardous materials, dangerous structures, extreme heights, confined spaces, electrical hazards, gas systems, asbestos, biohazards, or other significant hazards may require specialized training, equipment, licences, permits, or professional services.
Service providers should decline or stop work when they reasonably believe a task cannot be performed safely or lawfully.
12. Unauthorized Access and Privacy Violations
Tasks involving unauthorized access to another person's home, vehicle, computer, online account, private communications, property, or personal information are prohibited.
Users must not request hacking, password theft, unauthorized surveillance, tracking, recording, or access to private accounts or devices.
Legitimate technology support is permitted when the person requesting the service has lawful authority to access the device, system, or account.
13. Stolen or Unlawfully Obtained Property
GigNeighbour must not be used to transport, sell, hide, modify, dispose of, or otherwise assist with property that a user knows or reasonably should know is stolen or unlawfully obtained.
14. Animal Harm or Illegal Animal Activities
Tasks involving animal cruelty, abuse, neglect, illegal breeding, animal fighting, or other unlawful treatment of animals are prohibited.
Permitted pet services must be performed in a humane and responsible manner.
15. Discrimination and Harassment
Tasks or service postings that discriminate against, demean, threaten, harass, or unfairly exclude individuals in violation of applicable human rights laws or GigNeighbour's Community & Safety Guidelines are prohibited.
Users must not use task requirements as a means of engaging in harassment or discriminatory conduct.
16. Misleading or Fake Tasks and Profiles
Users must not create fake task postings, fraudulent service profiles, misleading advertisements, impersonation accounts, or postings designed primarily to collect personal information.
Descriptions of tasks and services must reasonably represent the actual work being requested or offered.
17. Tasks Involving Minors or Vulnerable Persons
Tasks involving children, older adults, persons with disabilities, or other vulnerable individuals require additional care.
Users must not arrange services that violate applicable childcare, healthcare, transportation, background-check, licensing, supervision, or other legal requirements.
GigNeighbour may restrict certain categories involving vulnerable persons or require additional information before allowing them on the platform.
18. Other Prohibited Activities
GigNeighbour may prohibit or remove other tasks, services, postings, or activities that it reasonably believes:
violate applicable laws or regulations;
create significant safety or security risks;
involve fraud or exploitation;
infringe another person's rights;
violate another GigNeighbour policy; or
could reasonably harm users, the community, or the integrity of the platform.
The absence of a particular activity from this Policy does not necessarily mean that the activity is permitted.
19. Reporting Prohibited Tasks or Services
Users who encounter a task, service profile, message, or activity that appears illegal, fraudulent, dangerous, or prohibited should report the concern to GigNeighbour.
GigNeighbour may review the information, remove content, restrict platform features, suspend accounts, or terminate access where reasonably appropriate.
For emergencies, immediate danger, threats of violence, or situations requiring urgent police, fire, or medical assistance, contact 911 or the appropriate emergency services.
20. Enforcement
GigNeighbour may remove or restrict tasks, services, profiles, or accounts that reasonably appear to violate this Policy.
Serious violations involving fraud, violence, exploitation, illegal activity, or significant safety risks may result in immediate suspension or termination.
GigNeighbour may cooperate with law enforcement, regulatory authorities, or other appropriate authorities where required or permitted by law.
21. Changes to This Policy
GigNeighbour may update this Prohibited Tasks & Services Policy as the platform, services, laws, or safety requirements change.
When changes are made, GigNeighbour will update the Effective Date shown at the top of this Policy.
